On May 6, Fellow of the Royal Society Prof. David A. Hopwood attended SJTU 1st "Inspiring Wisdom" Distinguished Lecture. Sir David A. Hopwood is an internationally famous geneticist as well as emeritus doctor of science in Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich Eidgenössische Technlsche Hochschule Zürich, honorary member of Hungarian Academy of Sciences and honorary professor of SJTU. He gave a speech on "Streptomyces Genomics: a new approach to finding antibiotics". Zhang Jie, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and SJTU President, addressed at the lecture and gave commemorative medal to Prof. David A. Hopwood. Deng Zixin, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, director of SJTU State Key Laboratory of Microbial Metabolism and dean of School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology presided over the lecture.

"Inspiring Wisdom" Distinguished Lecture, established by SJTU State Key Laboratory of Microbial Metabolism, invites academicians at home and abroad in related fields with the purpose of providing an advanced platform for international academic exchanges.
