On September 22, Prof. George N. Bennett guested at the “Inspiring Wisdom” Distinguished Lectures. He delivered a wonderful speech under the title "Manipulation of redox in microbial cells".

George Bennett, E. Dell Butcher Professor and Chair of Biochemistry & Cell Biology at Rice University, is the fellow of American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, American Academy of Microbiology, and American Association for the Advancement of Science. His current research focuses on metabolic engineering of microbes for chemical production, genetic tools for synthetic biology and mechanisms of environmental responses of bacteria. He has served on advisory boards of several biotech companies. Prof.  Bennett's contributions have mainly been in molecular biology of stress responses and biotechnology applications of Escherichia coli and Clostridium acetobutylicum. He has published more than one hundred academic papers, on such as PNAS, EST, JB, AEM etc, and has great influence in the field of microbiology research.
