长期从事合成生物学领域的应用基础研究与产业化开发工作。近年来,主持或参与国家重点研发计划、国家自然科学基金、省市级重大专项及企业横向课题等科研项目30余项。以通讯作者身份在Nature Chemistry、Nature Synthesis等高水平期刊发表论文80余篇,获授权国内外发明专利42件。研究工作聚焦功能分子的高效生物制造与创新,提出基于碳-碳键可控断裂与精准组装的定向生物合成新策略,突破了天然产物传统合成逻辑的限制,为功能分子的高效创制提供了新理论与关键技术。开发了包括聚酮合酶、甾醇降解酶在内的多酶分子机器系统,并实现了转氨酶、亚胺还原酶、醛缩酶等工业用酶的理性改造与工程应用。相关技术已在20余项工业场景中落地应用,取得显著的经济与社会效益。现任中国微生物学会微生物代谢与生物制造专业委员会副主任委员、酶工程专业委员会委员,中国生物工程学会生物催化专业委员会委员,以及《Green Synthesis and Catalysis》、《Bioresources and Bioprocessing》等期刊编委。
